Please read these policies before your purchase. This policy governs service usage, with violations potentially resulting in suspension or termination. Offensive Content
Global Star Hosting prohibits publishing or transmitting content that reasonably appears to be: pornographic or involving child exploitation; excessively violent, inciting violence, or containing harassment or hate speech; deceptive under consumer protection laws, including chain letters and pyramid schemes; defamatory or privacy-violating; creating risks to persons, public safety, health, national security, or law enforcement investigations; improperly exposing trade secrets or confidential information; designed to defeat copyright protections; infringing trademarks, patents, or property rights; promoting illegal drugs, violating export controls, relating to illegal gambling or arms trafficking; otherwise illegal or soliciting illegal conduct; or malicious, fraudulent, or likely to provoke retaliation.
Vexation & Harassment
The company does not tolerate harassment toward employees or subsidiaries. Customers must conduct themselves professionally in all communications. Violations may result in suspension or termination without notice.
Resource Usage
Different account types have specific restrictions:
Legacy Managed VPS: Cannot use 25% or more CPU resources longer than 90 seconds.
Managed VPS/Cloud VPS: Cannot cause performance impacts or disproportionate resource consumption; swap file usage to bypass limitations is prohibited.
Shared Cloud Accounts: Limited to current resource specifications, including maximum 100 processes at once, 60-second maximum process execution time, 30-second maximum MySQL query time. Email limits vary by package tier (100–1000 per hour). Local email or API services only.
Reseller Cloud Accounts: 200,000 maximum inodes per account, 1024 IOPS disk performance maximum, 100 processes maximum, 60-second process execution limit, 30-second MySQL query maximum, 100 emails per hour maximum.
Managed WordPress Accounts: CPU limits of 1 core (Entry), 2 cores (Business), 4 cores (Corporate). 1024MB maximum memory, 256MB per process. WordPress-only hosting; other software unsupported.
External Storage
External storage is exclusively for account backups and server restoration. Prohibited uses include content delivery networks, file exchange sites, torrents, or bulk delivery services.
Network Abuse
Global Star Hosting prohibits network abuse including denial-of-service attacks, phishing, port scans, and SYN floods. Illegal activities include unauthorized system access or attempts to probe, scan, or breach security; unauthorized data or traffic monitoring; service interference through mail bombing, flooding, or broadcast attacks; TCP-IP packet header forgery; and conduct likely to result in retaliation against the network.
IP Addresses
IP address assignments follow ARIN guidelines. Global Star Hosting may request verification and revoke assignments at its discretion.
Prohibited Materials and Services
The company does not accept: public proxies, torrents, Tor, warez, escrow services, HYIPs, illegal gambling or lottery sites; distributed computing software like SETI@home or coin miners (including CHIA miners); file sharing, BitTorrent, or P2P network services. Global Star Hosting may terminate service and determine refund eligibility at its sole discretion.
Security
Customers are responsible for maintaining reasonable account security, protecting passwords, and updating software following industry best practices. Global Star Hosting makes no warranty regarding third-party software security.
Bulk Commercial Email
Bulk emailing is prohibited on shared or reseller hosting. VPS, cloud, or dedicated hosting requires advance approval and demonstration that: recipients consented via affirmative opt-in procedures; consent solicitation includes reasonable identity verification; consent evidence is retained and producible within 72 hours; recipients can easily revoke consent, honored within 72 hours; privacy policies exist for associated domains; CAN-SPAM Act compliance is maintained. Sending is limited to 60 emails per minute maximum. PMTA software is expressly prohibited.
Unsolicited Email
Customers cannot send unsolicited email to persons indicating they do not wish to receive it. All other network rules must be observed.
Material Protected by Copyright
Customers cannot publish, distribute, or copy copyrighted music, software, art, or other works unless expressly authorized by copyright owners or permitted under U.S. copyright law. Repeated infringement results in service termination.
Copyright Infringement Notice (DMCA)
Notices should be sent to: Copyright Agent, c/o Global Star Hosting, 1-533 Lorne St., Sudbury, ON, P3C 4R3, Canada. Telephone: 1-480-478-0553. Email: abuse@globalstarhosting.com.
Notices must include: physical or electronic signature of authorized copyright owner representative; identification of copyrighted work(s) claimed infringed; identification of infringing material and information sufficient for Global Star Hosting to locate it; contact information (address, telephone, email); statement of good faith belief that use is unauthorized; statement under penalty of perjury that the sender is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
Abuse Tickets
Global Star Hosting typically contacts customers regarding violations, but reserves the right to suspend or terminate without notice. Customers must maintain current contact email information.
Phishing violations: Offending files are immediately disabled; customers have 24 hours to clean and secure sites. Spam complaints: Investigation occurs to locate spam sources; customers receive 24 hours to respond. Resource abuse: Customers receive analysis and timeframes for correction; failure to correct results in suspension.
